Gym Star Sports Center (GSSC) is a wonderful place to experience the joy of movement and dance! Our caring and talented teachers are here to create an age appropriate class centered on the development of sound technique and creative expression. Dance offers kids a unique set of physical, emotional, and cognitive advantages.

Physical Development
Dance involves a greater range of motion, coordination, strength and endurance than most other physical activities. Dancing is an excellent form of exercise for total body fitness. The repetitive movements involved in dance can improve muscle tone, correct poor posture, increase balance and coordination and improve overall cardiovascular health.

Emotional Maturity
Dance promotes psychological health and maturity. Children enjoy the opportunity to express their emotions and become aware of themselves and others through creative movement.

Social Awareness
Dance fosters social encounter, interaction, and cooperation. Children learn to communicate ideas to others through body movement. Children quickly learn to work within a group dynamic.

Cognitive Development
Movement provides the cognitive loop between the idea, problem, or intent and the outcome or solution. In this sense, dance teaches a child to function in and understand the world.

Dance is basic to learning. It is pre-verbal, beginning before words can be formed. It is innate in children before they possess command over language and is evoked when thoughts or emotions are too powerful for words to contain.

As with all GSSC programs, our dance classes are taught on a continuum that allows students to grow and advance at their own pace. In these dance classes, our kids also learn valuable team-building skills while their level of physical fitness improves.
